Parisian Market Carrots are a great little round carrot that is a nineteenth-century French heirloom. The small nearly perfectly round deep orange roots are delightful in stews and soups.

Arugula is one of my favorite things to eat. There is something about the unique spicy flavor that makes it so irresistible that it rarely gets from my garden to the kitchen before it’s eaten.

Basil because it’s such a huge producer. You’ll get bunches of continuous aromatic leaves bursting with sweet, liquoricy flavor.

Our Rainbow Cherry Tomatoes are colorful mix of sweet, candy-like cherry tomatoes.

Mesclun Salad Mix These lettuces are incredibly productive. Try cutting the tops off 2” above soil when half grown and watch then grow back 2 or three times

Cayenne Pepper, named after the town in French Guiana where it was discovered, is a long, thin, fiery hot pepper.

Italian Arugula (Eruca vesicaria var. sativa)

Arugula is one of my favorite things to eat. There is something about the unique spicy flavor that makes it so irresistible that it rarely gets from my garden to the kitchen before it’s eaten.

This classic variety has uniquely flavored, deeply lobed 3-6″ leaves that get spicier as they get older. Adds zest to salad mixes, or use on its own. Comes up fast and is super easy to grow even in a shady garden.

Parisian Market Carrot (Daucus carota)

Parisian Market Carrots are a great little round carrot that is a nineteenth-century French heirloom. The small nearly perfectly round deep orange roots are delightful in stews and soups. It excels in clay or rocky soil where longer carrots have problems developing properly. Its flavor is legendary and is highly sought after by gourmet restaurants. Parisian’s small size make it popular with the kids and a terrific vegetable for containers.

Genovese Basil (Ocimum basilicum)

I call this classic Italian heirloom the ‘Gerry Bruckheimer’ of Basil because it’s such a huge producer. You’ll get bunches of continuous aromatic leaves bursting with sweet, liquoricy flavor.

Genovese has a high leaf to stem ratio and grows 14”-20” tall. It’s slow to bolt, and you can snip the flowers off to extend the harvest period

Cayenne Pepper (Capsicum annuum)

Cayenne Pepper, named after the town in French Guiana where it was discovered, is a long, thin, fiery hot pepper. Cayenne peppers grow 4 to 7 inches long on bushy, three feet tall plants. As they ripen, cayennes increase in heat as they turn from a glossy, dark green to a vibrant red and may be picked at either stage. Used for centuries as both a culinary and medicinal plant, cayenne’s heat comes from its high concentration of capsaicin, which has long been studied for a wide range of health benefits. These include its pain-reducing effects, its cardiovascular benefits, and its ability to help prevent stomach ulcers. Thomas Jefferson, well aware of the therapeutic value of plants and herbs, first planted cayenne peppers in 1767. It has been documented that, on his doctor’s orders, he used cayenne to treat both his rheumatism and digestive problems.
